Kenya Mission
Keep updated with the travels of Shawn and Kristin (Lindquist) Redford
Beginning in June of 2009, another ministry will begin in East Africa with the Redford family – Shawn, Kristin (Lindquist), Grace, Peyton, and a new baby due in late Spring.
Covington’s Mission Committee has been corresponding with Shawn and Kristin as they plan their work. Kristin will combine her work as a missionary and her training as a marriage and family therapist in order to provide counseling for missionaries who experience trauma, family stress and other issues.
While in Kenya, Shawn will be traveling to training centers for church leaders throughout East Africa and will provide teaching and training in leadership development. Shawn will focus upon training African missionaries who can then appropriately minister towards critical African issues, such as evangelism in war-torn regions, the AIDS crisis and an ever growing number of orphans.
The Mission Committee has made a commitment to sponsor Shawn and Kristin and their family during their five year term of service to Christian Missionary Fellowship while in Kenya. As you know, Kristin was raised in our church and nurtured by our congregation. In this light, we are committed to pray for their work and also to support them financially for one month a year for five years. We hope to collect pledges of support and conduct various fund raisers in order to raise $3,300 a year for five years.
We are asking you, our Covington friends and family, to prayerfully consider your support of the Redfords. Let our light shine in Africa!
